Charges against True and Hecht to be droppedI am sure the individuals concerned are very frustrated, as this now looks as if they will not have the opportunity to clear their names of the charges in a court of law. The background to this trial is succinctly presented here: Italy Drops Civil Charges Against ex-Getty Curator and Italy, Getty end rift (LATimes). See Derek Fincham's comments just over a year ago here, compared with Peter Tompa's.
Sources close to the case have confirmed that Marion True's and Bob Hecht's conspiracy trial in Rome will not end by October 2010. At that time, further prosecution will be barred by a statute of limitations; the case will be dismissed and charges dropped.
