As UK Heritage Sites Crumble....

.
David Gill on the UK approach to "Culture Matters":
[A]s ruined abbeys and castles crumble, the government seems willing [...]  to fund a scheme [...] that essentially records the removal of portable heritage material from unrecorded archaeological contexts. I have raised some of the broad issues through the Papers of the Institute of Archaeology. If heritage matters to the UK, and specifically to England, perhaps there could be a financial rebalancing to protect our universal inheritance.
Or at least some public debate about what on earth is going on. So far this is a debate that the PAS has done its very best to avoid happening.  For saying that, Professor Gill presumably is now officially a "Troll" in the eyes of the non-communicative Bloomsbury Boys.
