Focus on UK Metal Detecting: The Silence of the Lambs

"Crosby Garrett helmet: rum and rummer…" Heritage Journal 20/11/2013
When [...] the Crosby Garrett helmet, was sent for a hurried restoration before its sale at auction, the silence appears to have been almost overwhelming.”
And not only that. It would seem by the total lack of any public questioning since the Helmet's "surfacing" and the attempts by the Museum to paper over the cracks that the archaeologists of Britain have simply collapsed in a passive, unquestioning quivering heap before the PAS and its metal detecting partners. And the Treasure Act review everyone was jumping up and down saying they were going to sort out for us when this fiasco erupted? Where's that then? Where's the lobbying? Where's the public awareness programmes?
