Accounts of viewing figures for the first episode of the true-to-life sitcom "Detectorists", vary, one source suggests it was
650,000 viewers (which would be a viewing percentage of 4%) while other sources suggest slightly more (783 000). This is interesting compared with estimates for 10-16 thousand active artefact hunters in the UK. I suppose the key issue is whether the depiction of the heroes as social inadequate nerds is doing artefact hunting many favours or not.
