Metal Detectorist 'Bomb Menace'

Bart Simpson, bomb menace! Daily Mail, 20 January 2015
An Essex metal detectorist caused his street to be evacuated after he took home unexploded Second World War ordnance he found during metal detecting trip in woodland in Benfleet. It seems his attention to what was coming out of the site was not too hot, as he  took the mud-encrusted object home where he cleaned it by soaking it in a bucket of water. When it finally dawned on him that he had found a live 20 mm cannon shell, his neighbours in Laindon were evacuated from their homes at 11pm as it was removed and an Army bomb disposal unit later detonated the bomb in a nearby field.
