The New Manager of the Portable Antiquities Scheme

Susan Raikes, Head of the British Museum's Department of Learning, Volunteers and Audiences - the new manager of the Portable Antiquities Scheme (LVA- PAS) at the British Museum to whom Michael Lewis will report: https://uk.linkedin.com/pub/susan-raikes/18/705/2a2.  

Her first degree (Durham) was in Ancient History and she has MAs in both Museum Studies and Primary Education (useful in dealing with metal detectorists I guess). Ms Raikes  began her career in amateur archaeology (Education officer of the Sussex Archaeological Society Feb 1997 – Dec 1999). The SAS had no FLO at that time. There is no mention on the Linkedin page of her experiences with metal detectorists, numismatists or the NCMD. Roger had tonnes.

Meanwhile it is more difficult to identify who will be managing the core element of the former Scheme, the critically important PAS database, now split off from Lava-PAS and maintained alongside other tasks in the museum’s new Digital and Publishing Department. This is not figured on the BM webpage among the departments listed there, and the name of the manager is not recorded. It cannot be Dan Pett, because he's just started a three month paternity leave.
