Egyptian Journalist Shot over Antiquities?


An Egyptian journalist has been shot, allegedly by an antiquities smuggling group that he was was reporting on.
Nashaat El-Alwany, a journalist running for the upcoming parliamentary elections, was shot by unknown assailants in Nile Delta’s Kafr El-Sheikh governorate on Tuesday night [he] was transferred to the hospital in critical condition after being attacked following his electoral campaign. His family accused five individuals from an ‘antiquities smuggling’ group of attacking El-Alwany after he published an investigative report on the theft of antiquities in the governorate.
