UK Metal Detecting: Removing the Evidence

And it's gone...
On a metal detecting forum near you, a member is puzzled:
(JamieMP » Sat Oct 24, 2015 6:04 pm "Bronze Age Madness????")
I've just come in from work, had settled down with a glass of wine, clicked on the MDF and started on a promising thread about a possible bronze age shield. Went to click on page two and the thread disappeared!
"clint" (Sat Oct 24, 2015 6:18 pm) replies: "Must be the fairies....second one this week disappeared into the ether....". "Mega B" (Sat Oct 24, 2015 6:23 pm) observes: " Its becoming a regular thing these days, threads being pulled". Member "Allectus" from Darkest Essex explains (Sat Oct 24, 2015 9:52 pm)
I can tell you what happened. A couple of the do gooding 'don't dig too deep', 'it's below the plough' blah blah, fecking blah blah fecking two-bob depth brigade turned up!.... fecking blah, blah planks! Just why the post got pulled because of them jealous cnuts.... I've no idea.
Just to make his position clear he signs his post "A Is that below plough depth? Who gives a 'flying'... hoik it out!! [emoticon]"

"Omegamike" from Rochester  in a parallel thread about the missing texts ("Re: The shield" Sun Oct 25, 2015 1:01 am) explains to "Allectus" what he clearly cannot get his head around:
To put it in a nut shell..... some forum members were not exactly following metal detecting code of conduct etiquette and were encouraging the finder to 'get back out there' and dig for more! amongst other things - It didn't make good reading and was beginning to get a bit out of hand so the moderator made a decision to pull the thread which was the right thing to do under the circumstances.
Yes, we would not want members of the public seeing just how deep the reaction is to PAS outreach, do we?

Oh by the way, look at Mr Mike's strapline under his posts:
 If in doubt...... DIG IT!
That does not "make good reading" either.
