An FSA's Views on Archaeology

John Hooker FSA wrotes (1 December 2015 at 15:55)
Someone told a friend of mine that he studied archaeology at university. My friend replied to him: "Was the basket-weaving course too full?"
This is the sort of remark which makes me feel that any claims that collectors like Mr Hooker want to see archaeologists working more closely with artefact hunters to "increase our knowledge of the past" are just so many empty words. Besides which I doubt the Antiquaries' Fellow really knows all that much about the use of wicker and basketry in the past. I believe Mr Hooker will soon be proposing fellow collector John Howland for election to the Fellowship.
