"STOP the Talk on Conflict Antiquities"

Ben Ward "Yeovil - MA Archaeology, of Gray's Inn, Barrister" agrees (December 6, 2015 at 11:09 PM) with metal detectorist John Howland that the Islamicist militant group ISIL gets its money only from selling oil and no other resource (such as antiquities and precious metals also from the ground) , and like him, says he hopes to see soon
"the names of those in academe who proliferated the stolen collectables nonsense in the public domain, followed by a series of academic post[s] becoming vacant".
Mr Ward perhaps ought to give the issue of conflict antiquities a bit more thought himself. To suggest naming and shaming and then firing academics who write about the issue really defies any kind of logic. What on earth was he thinking? Despite the efforts of some in and out of the archaeological community to censor free and open discussions on issues concerning conflict antiquities and other aspects of collecting, this blog will continue to highlight the issues. My name, Mr Ward, is already in the public domain. And I talk about "stolen collectables". What do you propose doing about it?
