Operation Chronos Investigates Another UK Metal Detectorist

In  #OperationChronos @HeritageCrime Kent Police executed warrant today with 'Historic England' to investigate unlawful artefact hunting and reportedly seized coins, jewellery and unreported Treasure.

"Oh, it's only a small minority" soothingly warbles  the policeman, but I would argue if he cannot actually say how many there are, he's not in a position objectively to judge the size of the group. Are the British police misleading the public presenting subjective impressions as hard data? Anyway, the situation is changing as Treasure hunters are complaining that because the public purse is not coughing up the cash quickly enough, many more of their fellows are going to stop reporting Treasure.

but then that begs the question, What is "ethical" artefact hunting, is artefact collecting "ethical"?
