UK Tekkie Targets KNOWN Sites

Actually studying what artefact hunters say on the metal detecting forums near you gives the lie to the claim that detectorists primarily "find new sites". An example is in the thread "Why get (sic) permission is such (sic) difficult" (started by "Peek188" Fri May 20, 2016 9:35 am)
It's been about month i've been trying to get permsiion for md in my area (lots of farm, pastures, small lands, different ways:phone calls, emails) without success.
Member doubledee (Fri May 20, 2016 2:59 pm) sympathises and suggests a strategy:
I have had lots of success with letters. If I don't get a reply within a month I back up my request with a reminder. I have often gained permission with the second letter. I stress that I am working alone and that I don't wish to walk all over the farm. As I specialise in sites, and not just fields, I can indicate the field and the area of that field that I wish to search. I often get permission to go where I want. It works for me!
Doubledee here admits that he targets sites which he allready knows are there, he is not interested in their landscape content or the local history of the fields, but simply targeting a known site as a quarry for collectable artefacts.

The comment by targets (Fri May 20, 2016 1:54 pm) is also pretty revealing of the attitudes of unreflexive entitlement prevailing in this milieu, according to this artefact hunter the reason why landowners refuse to allow artefact hunters onto their land unsupervised to take what they want is:
jealosy (sic) in case you make a big find and they dont get a cut
No, Mr Targets, what you describe is not the emotion jealousy, but the crime theft. ALL the historical and collectable artefacts in the soil of a landowner's property are the landowner's property. That's the law and "responsible detectorists" (sic) supposedly respect and abide by the law.
