Well-overdue Yemen red list now out
ICOM has published 17 Red Lists since 2000, seven of them being classified as "Emergency" due to movable heritage suddenly placed at risk due to a natural disaster or armed conflict. A new #ICOMRedList of Southeast Europe is in preparation."We are now strongly advising collectors to avoid the objects on the list altogether, or at least to be extra cautious and thoroughly check the legality of provenance", says France Desmarais of Icom - apparently having an over-optimistic rosy view of real attitudes in the collecting community.
