Public Engagement: Citizen Archaeology

In Britain they have a PAS that aims to use artefacts to 'engage' people in archaeology (recte artefactology) and calls artefact hunters and collectors 'citizen archaeologists'. Then there is (was) 'Time team'. The effect is often a bit like this:
