UK Metal detectorists arrested over Beeston Castle stolen artefacts

Artefact hunters are in the news again in Britain, so soon after the Leominster case (Jeff Buck, 'Metal detectorists arrested over Beeston Castle stolen artefacts', BBC 7th Jan 2020)

Two metal detectorists have been arrested after "historic artefacts" were stolen from a castle's grounds. The men, aged 28 and 31, were held after "several reports of nighthawking" at Beeston Castle in December, Cheshire Police said. They were arrested on suspicion of theft following police raids in Droylsden, Greater Manchester on 1 January. [...] the items, [...] were taken from the woodland park around the English Heritage property, which dates back to the 13th Century.

Assuming that Droylsden was their home, Beeston Castle is 54 km to the southwest and its not a straightforward route, so these two people are alleged to have driven over a 100 km (at night?) to do a spot of metal detecting, and counting on finding enough to cover the petrol money.
