Nice decorative glittery round thing (PAS) |
"This is the (sic) stunning Viking brooch from Northants currently on display in the Vikings exhibition @britishmuseum" gaily tweets an FLO, busily doing archaeological outreach to various publics. A member of the public has just asked here (twice) what makes it "Viking". She does not seem too keen to answer, but surely FLOs are employed precisely to give such answers to the public. Still, it's worth 2500 quid, and glitters, so that's all I suppose that matters in dumb-down artefology land, it does not matter really what sort of stories you make up about it, anything goes. "Anyone can do it. Buy a metal detector and join in the fun".
