After the 2015 elections, the Labour Party which created and then nurtured the Portable Antiquities Scheme fades further into the background and the Tories, under whom many FLOs were replaced by 'volunteers' are free to continue eroding it. To cap it all we have a Culture Secretary who at one time understood the differences between proper archaeology and artefact hoiking.
