Hoard Hunters and UK metal Detecting Finds Rates

.
Two blokes in between larking about, as many artefact hunters do, targeted a known 'productive' site. As a Heritage Action member who endured the whole television programme calculates, in two days hunting, in coins alone, they made as many finds as the Heritage Action counter predicts that the statistical average detectorist makes in a whole year. That is on the first day they found 18 Roman coins – and the local techies seemed to think that was typical for those fields - then the next day they found at least 18 and an anvil  the next day. Who says the Artefact Erosion Counter is not a realistic representation of what is going on out in the fields? Maybe it is time for the PAS to gather some reliable official information from their "partners".
