Stolen Baghdad Item Turns up in Morocco

An item stolen from the Baghdad Museum, during the 2003 invasion of that country by the American troops has surfaced in Morocco. It arrived there carried by a 38-year old Moroccan immigrant to Italy returning home. It seems the item had been in Italy for over a decade, and was on sale for 6 million dirhams (597207 USD). The seller was a faqih (expert in Islamic Law), who had obtained it from the immigrant carrier. Information about the item eventually reached the headquarters of the National Brigade of Judicial Police (BNPJ) in Casablanca which launched an investigation.
