David Gill's article, 'Damaging the archaeological record: The Lenborough Hoard', has appeared in the Journal of Art Crime 13 (Spring 2015) 51-57. I doubt, though, that anybody from the "just ignore them, didn't we do well?" PAS will be reading it. We need more analysis of the consequences of UK policies on artefact hunting and collecting precisely from the position of its damaging effects on the archaeological record. This is an aspect which - though one would have thought should have a central and fundamemntal role in discussions outside this blog and what David writes - has so far been dismissed by supporters of the current status quo.
