London man with metal detector told to go home


In Southend Essex, police are maintaining a reassuring presence across the town as the nation stays at home to beat coronavirus.
But they have met a number of people who've been flouting the lockdown rules. On patrol on Southend seafront, police saw a man who travelled from London to "do a spot of metal detecting". Other people from London came to Southend to enjoy the fresh air. They were spoken to by the officers and given appropriate advice.
