Sad State

How entirely typical that during the whole day after the publication of the Guardian text on metal detectorists, instead of discussing what it says, a gaggle of British archaeologists discussed... what it said about the archaeology reality show Time Team, among other things accusing the article's author of lying about it. And actually nothing else.

Of course, directing attention to just one point deflects it away from the others. Once again, British archaeology shows its lack of will to face the problem with artefact hunters and collectors. How utterly pathetic, and pathetically typical.
