Two Apollos, Two Mysteries

Gaza Apollo
Cleveland Apollo
The classical bronze of Apollo reportedly discovered in mid-August 2013 in the sea off Deir al-Balah, in the Gaza strip ("The Apollo of Gaza: Hamas's Ancient Bronze Statue", Bloomberg Business Week, January 31, 2014) shows little evidence that it was submerged in the sea for centuries. It also has a thin rectangular bronze plate soldered to its feet, and may in fact have been found at a previously unknown site in the Gaza strip. The Cleveland Apollo, from an unknown site shows little evidence that it was submerged in the sea for any time before it was taken to Germany. It also has a thin rectangular bronze plate soldered to its feet. Could there be a connection?
