Italy: More Illegal diggers and Smugglers Being Detected


Italy's Carabinieri art squad discovered 49 illegal excavations in 2013, up 32% from 2013. The number of archaeological remains and coins recovered more than doubled from 24 172 in 2012 to 52 270 in 2013.
