Databases and Laser Scanning in Egypt

It's becoming more difficult to walk off with saleable bits and pieces from Egyptian archaeological storerooms, the ever-critical "cultural property observers" from among the supporters of no-questions-asked collecting will no doubt be glad to hear. The cataloguing of the backlog from generations of past, largely foreign, expeditions is coming along apace writes Nabil Shawkat ('Restoring History', the National Sept 12 2010). The article is more excited about laser scanning techniques now being applied in Egyptian monuments.
