Britain’s Secret Treasures

.
Not long now, the metal detector shops are readying their window displays. The treasure hunting programme "Britain’s Secret Treasures" will soon be on British screens on ITV1. Here's the schedule for those needing to know when to get the beer and popcorn ready:

Episode 1 - Mon 16th July - 20h00
Episode 2 - Tues 17th July - 19h30
Episode 3 - Weds 18th July - 20h00
Episode 4 - Thurs 19th July - 19h30
Episode 5 - Fri 20th July – 20h00
Over the Shabbat will be a respite, Episode 6 - Sun 22nd July - 19h00

Over on the detecting forums the rivalry has started. "ironhearted_gog" enquires "Any one else here made the top 50 treasures show? I'm in episode 4, but they won't tell me what number, hopefully I'm in the top 20 (but probably not)". "R2tag" adds: "my good friend Tony Burke from my Time Explorers is somewhere in there with a TOP Find This is going to be a GREAT TV Program looking forward to it". "Member "Cumbrian Fox" worries: "Been really looking forward to this program, I hope it manages to show us in a good light and not as thieves [...] who steal history from our country" - well, how else is it going to look when all those decontextualised archaeological finds come spilling out onto the screen?  Another tekkie suggests: "Should be a cracker of a programme, although I do hear the editing makes the detectorists seem like "less than knowledgable", whereas the PAS types sound like Einstein".

It is quite notable however that there has not been much advance publicity, there was a low-key advert in the PAS' fave tekkie magazine, "The Searcher".

Vignette: The Grand Treasure Master from Bloomsbury will be on a screen near you soon!
