The topic of "that programme" was mentioned in the conversation [...] We were left wondering why the Scheme had allowed itself to be drawn into a programme that was so far removed from archaeology (confusing archaeology with treasure-hunting), and that would only alienate it from professional colleagues. There was a feeling that it is only possible to make positive comments about the Scheme ...So much for debate in British archaeology.
