The University of Chicago Persian Antiquities Crisis is not over yet. For details of this bizarre case see a recent post by Rick St Hilaire (' Rubin v. Iran Update: Illinois District Court Gets Case Back Following Supreme Court's Rejection of Appeal -- U.S. Files Amicus Brief in First Circuit Supporting Museums'). Rhode Island attorney David J. Strachman, representing the plaintiffs, has gone after Iranian-owned objects held by U.S. museums in Illinois, Massachusetts and Michigan (items from Persepolis in the Oriental Institute becoming a primary target). Strachman said collectors are interested in the antiquities, potentially for tens of millions of dollars. They'd be quite happy it seems to see the archive split up and sold off piece by piece to dealers and private collectors.
