Well, I thought I must have misheard, but an esteemed colleague has just affirmed that he too heard the sum of "nearly a million pounds" as the reward that metal detectorist David Booth got for reporting the Blair Drummond Hoard. Please check it out for yourselves. In fact the torcs were valued at under half that. If the "Britain's Secret Treasures" programme is putting out such damaging misinformation ("a million quid for next to nothing" is the sort of advertising metal detector manufacturers dream of), what else is it getting wrong?
