Focus on UK Metal Detecting: UKDFD Well-and-Truly Broken

Not so long ago the UKDFD team were jeering at me because when they set it up I had said it had no future, that in the absence of a proper team of specialists running and maintaining it, the thing would break down. They thought I was wrong. So it's of no small interest to me that its search engine is now completely useless, just shows up hundreds of irrelevant objects in even a simple search for a particular type of item. More to the point it is coming up to two years now since it became impossible for new members to register. What was billed as a "temporary problem" looks more like a permanent fixture. This show-and-tell showcase serves no clear function other than bragging, and it never ceases to be a puzzlement why this 'record' is claimed by those associated with this private 'database' to be some kind of an alternative form of "responsible detecting". It is not.
