Afghanistan’s Looted and Lost Heritage

"Focus on UK Metal Detecting". Odd, innit, that orl those metal detectorists so passinitly intrestid in 'istry, don't actually see post like this on this blog. This blog for them is all about being against the exploitation of the archaeological record, looking for collectables (or something to flog) with metal detectors. NOT ONE OF THEM notes the other posts, about the antiquities market, the problems with collecting and its effects on the archaeological record. For the blinkered tekkies, these problems are as invisible as my posts on them.  But (so-called) metal detecting is part of the problem, not the be-all-and-end-all of the issue. But NOT ONE OF THE TEKKIES will ever comment here, still less on their own forums, about how awful the OTHER stuff the PACHI blog draws attention to. So, are they really all that passinitly intrestid in the 'istry as all that? Or is this just a pose to cover their selfish and acquisitive/exploitive collecting interests? Come on tekkies, say what YOU think of this.... Show us what you coil-wavers are made of...

As Joe Wooten commented on the webpage today: "I don't know what is sadder, the looting of history detailed here...or the idea that I am the only one commenting...".
