Artefactamateur Archaeolohunters - a Confusion of Terms

Donna Yates, as one of few UK-based archaeologists ‏adds her voice to the protests re Treasure hunters in the media being called something they are not:
Dear Media: stop using false term 'amateur archaeologist'.
Artefact hunting is artefact hunting, no more, no less. Not that the point she made was entirely understood by fellow tweeters. Another thing the fifteen million quid long-term project the Portable Antiquities Cashgobbler has failed to get over even to the British media.

UPDATE 8th August 2014
And now what used to be called "volunteers" are now "citizen archaeologists" according to the BM.
