On a UK metal detecting forum near you, there is a locked thread ('why is it locked?' you might wonder):
Temporary suspension of the Finds ID section Post by MDFAdmin » Wed Mar 25, 2020 1:34 pmOh, we understand, it's about keeping up appearances. We all know they are out there doing this, spreading the virus from Cornwall to Arbroath, it's just 'Admin' want to pretend they are not, by sweeping the issue under the carpet.
In line with government advice, detecting should not be taking place during the present partial lockdown, yet we have seen some ID requests for finds made since the current rules were announced.
Therefore, and with regret, we have decided to temporarily suspend the Finds ID section as we, along with many of you, believe that such finds should not have been made in the first place. This might be harsh on those of you who would like an ID on finds made before the lockdown, but in the last couple of days we've had several topics started on very recent finds and with the probability of that number rising because of those determined to interpret the rules for their own benefit, we simply will not have time to police them all.
We're working on alternative measures which will enable us to re-open the section if we can and will be reviewing the situation on a daily basis. We will of course keep you fully updated.
Sorry, and hope you all understand.

What's the betting the section will be re-opened under the title "Things I've just found in my garden"?!
It amused me that they "believe that such finds should not have been made in the first place." I can tell you the names of an awful lot of archaeologists who have thought exactly that, often.
