Of course the post here yesterday about the "Lepidop Grange" archaeologists' metal detecting rally was an April Fool's joke with a sting. All characters appearing in that text are of course fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.
The point is though, if metal detecting is so "jolly good for the archaeological heritage", why does nobody explain why the majority of British archaeologists do not take it up as a hobby?
