The auction of the skull of a Civil War soldier found on the site of an 1863 field hospital near Gettysburg has been cancelled. The disturbing thing is that somebody not only put it up for auction, but that a US auctioneer actually agreed to sell it: "Estate Auction Company [Hagerstown, Maryland] had hoped the auction, by an anonymous seller, would raise between $50,000 to $250,000 from a private collector or museum".
