Renewed Focus on UK Metal Detecting: Never the Twain Shall Meet

Del Boy, who has trouble with apostrophes too, is not exactly on the ball:
del1969trotter (Wed Mar 20, 2013 6:34 pm) thread "someones blog for you all to check out"
[I] think you can comment on this blokes blog....and defend our hobby
The link goes to a post here describing an attempt - scheduled for 10th March - to close this blog by malicious claims sent to Google. But hey, I'd be only too pleased if metal detectorists, apostrophe abusers of not, would send some proper informed comments to this blog, defending the current policies on the hobby. Why not? Let us hear what you have to say.

Anyway, this post had an interesting follow-up by a bloke hailing from Hedon, East Yorkshire calling himself "bainsey" (aka Andy Baines, Wed Mar 20, 2013 6:42 pm):
Hi mate, as much of a fruitloop this guy really is[,] his name is banned on this forum I believe. I think this thread will be removed soon so as not to have a link to the utter tripe and garbage that he writes on his blog
Well, we will see if the thread is removed for merely obliquely mentioning an external "fruitloop" who has concerns about the effects of current policies on artefact hunting on the archaeological record. Excellent prospects for dialogue then?  "Del" is right surprised:
[I] didnt know that, first time i,ve heard of him,,,, found it trawling the net this afternoon. oh well not to worry thanks for letting me know::g

So the tekkie censorship works. No links, no awareness. Ignorance is bliss.

UPDATE Five minutes later:
Well, will ya'll look at that ! "Bainsey's" prediction was almost correct - but not the thread disappeared from the "Keep 'em in ign'rance" tekking forum, just the first post (with the link). The effect is a stunning example of tekkie capacity for confusion. The thread now begins with Bainsey's post belittling me.

UPDATE Not so many minutes later....
The moderators obviously, while trying to prevent other tekkies from finding their way here, are keeping an eye on what's happening. So now the rest of the thread has gone: "The requested topic does not exist". All of which fits what I wrote about their censorship efforts in the post above this. These censors are really sinister. But you'll not find any tekkie questioning this, just accepting in blind obediebnce, and awarding the whole thing lots of smileys.

Vignette: Keep away, dangerous words...
