Detecting Meets Stagparty on UK TV tonight

.
Those of you who can see it don't forget to tune into tonight's cringe-TV's "Hoard Hunters" ("mud men meets Benny Hill"). Remembering the NCMD Code's penultimate point ("Remember that when you are out with your metal detector you are an ambassador for our hobby. Do nothing that might give it a bad name"), I'd say from the bits I have seen, these two do a suggestive job perpetuating the picture that detecting is for shallow-minded, socially-challenged intellectual inadequates. Gary and Gordon are single-handedly doing a super job unravelling years of tangled webs bolstering their 'partnership' woven by the PAS and its mates. They are doing (real) archaeology a great service by undermining tekkie cred. One more step towards a public debate on why this artefact hunting is tolerated.

UPDATE:
One detecting forum member has a notable xenophobic comment on one of the presenters (who lives in Norway):
I am all for Britain sharing it's history with the world..... hell we ruled it once upon a time, but is the guy who constantly acts like a child (wearing that stupid hat....trying to make it his trade mark [emoticon, sleepy.png] ) even from Britain? If not shouldn't he be digging up his own countries history and encouraging people in his own country to take up metal detecting and learning/sharing the historic artefacts he finds.... what are we hear in the UK... a free-for-all for anyone to come here and do as they wish?
