It's Not What you Find....


A UK Metal detectorist found out what the word "virtuous" means, it was written on a medieval ring, and he looked it up.

Scary. Both virtue and simple common sense appear to be rare traits. It's a gold posy ring, mid 17th to early 18th century, and is clearly inscribed "A vertuous wife preserveth life".

And no, lads, do NOT attempt to "straighten" it. Gold posy rings are quite valuable and require professional conservation.

Speaking of "virtue", I do hope he reported it under the Treasure Act, showed it to the landowner and intends to split its value ...
