Over on a metal detecting blog near you, a US coin collector posits that the only reason for US collectors refraining from buying coins smuggled from pillaged Egypt in this period of looting, theft and destruction is his country's munificent gesture to "Reward the Military Dictatorship" of a subservient country. There is no notion there whatsoever that buying smuggled artefacts is in any way something fellow collectors would want to avoid. Indeed the collector is campaigning actively to have any measures that might hinder that prevented from being put in place, he apparently wants free access smuggled coins, and the decent folk who say it is wrong are getting in his way. And they wonder why nobody wants to discuss cultural heritage protection with them. Seriously?

Coineys: "America the Munificent"
