Over on a metal detecting forum near you, treasure hunters are getting excited about an news item one of them has spotted: "Archaeologists Unearth Tomb of Genghis Khan" - replete with a photograph of a skeleton surrounded by gold discs. Unfortunately suspicions should have been raised about the fact that this story comes from 'The World News Daily Report' ( New World Order Media). This is a website that parodies real news in tabloid style including fictional stories such as "Rancher Shoots Down UFO Near Area 51," "15-Ton Prehistoric Shark Captured Off Coast of Pakistan," and "Denmark: Woman Marries Own Horse, Creates Legal Precedent". The site also carries a disclaimer that clearly states none of its reports are meant to be read as fact: Their disclaimer page makes the falsehood completely clear.
“World News Daily Report is a news and political satire web publication, which may or may not use real names, often in semi-real or mostly fictitious ways. All news articles contained within worldnewsdailyreport.com are fiction, and presumably fake news.”So once again, the all important context is being ignored by artefact collectors and leading to false interpretations.
UPDATE 11th Nov 2014
and now watch the entire jack-pack of the tekkies who "don't read the Barford blog and God-forbid don't mention it" line up saying they don't believe the story is real, the first Tuesday 10 AM.
