The Heritage Lottery Fund says (http://www.hlf.org.uk/): "We give grants to sustain and transform our heritage in the UK £375million to invest each year" and this picture says it all. Pre-pubescent youth among those encouraged to dig up and collect archaeological and historical finds. This is NOT "sustaining our heritage", but it is "transforming" it into something else. The "ciollecting culture" is irreversibly damaging British archaeology.
