Rick St. Hilaire, 'Ka Nefer Nefer Forfeiture Case: SLAM Appellate Brief Strongly Criticizes Government', Cultural Heritage Lawyer blog, August 6, 2013. It's not looking at all good at the moment for the White Hat Guys, a right federal Balls-up in fact. In a recent Florida case when things started going a bit wrong, they went in and arrested the guy. Who can they arrest this time and for what? Suggestions off-line only.
Please please Jason Felch, set up an searching interview with the SLAM directorate (and ask a few Trustees) whether in their heart of hearts they sincerely believe the "Charly Mathez- Kaloterna Collection - Zuzi Jelinek" story. I'd be interested in what they say.
I think also it would bolster their case and save their face if SLAM would make moves to mount a retrospective exhibition of the other items from the two collections that once held one of their prize pieces: the Kaloterna Collection and the Jelinek Collection, with Ka Nefer Nefer as the central piece. Let us see what other stunning pieces the museum can show these two collectors acquired. Can they do that? If not, why not? There are some who say they cannot because these collections never actually existed. Let SLAM vindicate their story and claim to Ka Nefer Nefer and show them wrong.
