Positive Contribution on Metal Detecting

A metal detectorist has with characteristic generosity recently promised the readers of his blog a bottle of very good French vintage wine from his extensive cellars posted first class mail anywhere in the world if they can spot a "single positive comment by Mr Barford about metal detecting". Here it is.

My dear friends, fellow seekers of history, beloved and esteemed metal detectorists, I implore you to be very careful when penetrating search areas in trees, bushes or long grass, not so much because of the danger of contracting Lyme's Disease (which I am sure you all know everything about). My concern for you is in the possibilities of misdiagnosis of the latter. There are many tick-borne diseases with similar symptoms (Robin Diamond, 'Lyme Disease? You May Want a Second Opinion', The Doctors Company  August 16, 2013) and you should be sure that your doctor has diagnosed the right one, otherwise recovery will be slower, reducing the time and ease with which you can get out there in the fields in the fresh air and mud. Please take care. You are doing a great job.

And remember to whom you owe that bottle of wine that you'll no doubt soon be getting from Texas for notifying him you've all seen this (this also recalls an early John Winter post on a related topic before he fell in with the American shoutalots, is that post itself not in fact a positive post about metal detectorists too, two bottles of wine from him for pointing that out? Worth a try).

[Now look and see where bits of this post turns up quoted out of context]

Vignette: Part of the Garland wine cellar (the dust is not included in the offer).
