Bearing in mind the Inspectors cannot be getting out to the more remote areas as much as they'd like and also I suspect an understandable desire to show that what they are able to do is not without effect (to the extent that shocking extent of recent Apamea is somewhat played down), this is still very upsetting reading: Annual Report, 2013 Syrian Arab Republic, Ministry of Culture, Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums
