Ukrainian Moment in the fields of Britain

“Dear subscriber, you are registered as a participant in a mass disturbance.” That's the chilling text message people near the clash between Ukrainian riot police and protesters in Kiev yesterday received shortly after midnight, Andrew E. Kramer at the New York Times reports.
Things are developing fast in the world of geolocation of populations. So fast in fact that it would probably be feasible in the next few years to develop metal detectors which can flash up on the screen, "Dear user, you are registered as using your machine within the boundaries of a known archaeological site (or protected area), please turn your machine off now and move away, this message has been logged". The question is to what degree are metal detectorists as a whole responsible enough to not use such a machine to pinpoint known archaeological sites? To what extent would metal detector manufacturer have the courage to try and market such a machine for responsible detecting, and would the PAS actively endorse them?
