Did you know?
British artifact and ancient coin regulations changed in 2012. To be properly documented the Hadrian sestertius was now required to have a provenance dating to before 1970.That's according to Richard Giedroyc ('Coin Provenance Proves Important', World Coin News January 06, 2014, rehashing a story covered here last year). It strikes me that a US multi-million dollar trade like that in dugup numismatics could afford to employ a journalist who is capable of finding out and verifying the real facts about the topic he is writing about, just the same as they could afford a lobbyist who could do the same. Unfortunately getting a factual account of anything does not seem to be a coiney priority, and the effects are that we have what we have.
