Big coin seizure in Pakistan ('Ancient coins trove seized ', The International News Thursday, May 22, 2014 ). Pakistan's Customs authorities on Wednesday May 21st impounded more than two thousand mediaeval and ancient coins from a Pakistan International Airlines passenger flying out to China.
A press release from the Customs said the man, Mehar Nabi, who hails from Peshawar, was waiting to board the flight to the city of Kashgar when the airport’s Customs staff seized his baggage containing the 2,210 coins. They range in time from the period of the Moguls and the pre-Mogul sultans of Delhi to the Sassanid and Greek eras, according to the Department of Archaeology and Museums which examined the loot. The man was taken into custody by the police.
