After a tipoff, two Greeks, aged 47 and 57, were arrested on Tuesday in the central district of Kolonaki allegedly in the course of attempting to sell a 30cm tall Middle Neolithic marble statuette. It is reported that the selling price had been 3.5 million euros. On wednesday they were brought before an Athens prosecutor charged with trading in illegal antiquities. It is reported that "the 57-year-old suspect already has nine convictions for tax evasion, carrying a total prison sentence of 36 years and seven months".
