Cleveland Museum of Art Director David Franklin resigns

David Franklin (CMA)
Steven Litt, 'Cleveland Museum of Art Director David Franklin resigns for personal reasons, effective immediately', The Plain Dealer October 21, 2013. Franklin oversaw the 'unveiling' of the Leutwitz Apollo (in the purchase of which he was not involved) and wrote the foreword for the museum's exhibition catalog:
focusing on the museum's controversial purchase in 2004 of an ancient bronze statue of Apollo. The catalog, which defends the purchase, is likely also to stir controversy among archaeologists [...] Franklin’s departure continues a period of turbulence in museum leadership. The institution has had four directors since 2000, including Katharine Lee Reid (2000-2005); Timothy Rub (2006-2009); and Deborah Gribbon (2009-2010).
Very sad case.
