The bottom line


Heritage Action clarify:
Our “narrow minded” agenda as it has been called (that is shared by virtually every archaeologist – ask them!) is to see artefact hunting properly regulated such that it is conducted in a way that benefits the public interest
I note that it does not say "shared by virtually every responsible detectorist". That's because it really does seem that in the case of the majority this responsibility is a shallow and declarative facade emplyed without any real understanding of, still less reflection on, what that consists of. Meanwhile the grey detectorist parasites continue to snipe from the sidelines.
